On May 7, 2022, the results of the Diversity Visa Lottery (DV-2023) were announced. Individuals who submitted an electronic entry between Oct. 6, 2021, and Nov. 9, 2021 can now check the status to see if their entry was selected and may contact their immigration attorneys to assist them in preparing their applications for lawful permanent resident status, whether through consular processing overseas or through a domestic adjustment of status filing with USCIS. Individuals selected in the Diversity Visa lottery will be notified by the Department of State via phone, email, or mail.
Those with a selected entry will be directed to a confirmation page providing further instructions, including information about fees connected with immigration to the United States. Applications for those selected in DV-2023 can be submitted from Oct. 1, 2022, through Sept. 30, 2023. The confirmation page will contain a number that can be used to determine when a selectee is eligible to submit their application for processing, by comparing it against the Diversity Visa Chart in the monthly Department of State Visa Bulletin. All selectees, including family members, must be issued immigrant visas by Sept. 30, 2023, to avail themselves of this benefit, so it is important to complete each step of the process in a timely manner.
